Dave’s research is in aqueous geochemistry and mineralogy. His work involves developing a molecular-level understanding of the geochemical processes that couple the lithosphere, hydrosophere and biosphere. He uses synchrotron-based spectroscopy and theoretical (quantum mechanical) calculations to explore the complexation of aqueous ions by dissolved ligands and mineral surfaces.
